The Internet IS the Network

With the growth of the Internet, the proliferation of mobile computing devices and the emergence of wireless access, the definition of the workforce has expanded to include remote work environments. According to a recent survey, companies on average are split between those that allow remote access to the corporate LAN and those that do not, with larger companies more likely to allow remote access compared to smaller ones. The principal reasons stated for not allowing any remote access, whether from home or public locations, were security concerns. OneStopTechnology understands the security issues and can implement a secure remote access strategy for your organization.

Mulitple Offices
If you have individuals or offices spread out across the country, you can avoid duplicating hardware and software in multiple locations. With our state of the art data center, we can securely host your server hardware or simply host your application on one of our high-powered servers offering secure, 24X7 access for your staff to your data and programs. If you have been struggling with a multi-office network configuration, you can now centralize your network server(s) and provide accessibility for all employees in your various locations to the same data and programs.

How It Works

Many users are now familiar with "remote desktops" based on Citrix and/or Microsoft Terminal Services. This technology enables you to connect to a remote desktop that looks like a regular Windows desktop and contains your typical programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), but is actually hosted on the remote server. This way, you can connect to the same desktop programs and data from work, home or on the road.

Microsoft has recently released new Terminal Services clients that provide support for high screen resolutions, remote file access, remote printing and cut&paste functionality between the remote and desktop sessions. These features, together with client support for Mac and Linux platforms and improved performance, offer you a powerful remote access solution.

Users can log in and work with the same virtual (server-based) desktop from the office, home or on the road. Sessions are also possible through a web browser. The client computer can be an older model machine, running Windows, Mac OSX or Linux, or a low-cost thin client device that has no disk, CD or floppy drives.

Using this technology, organizations can create a cost-effective and highly efficient computing infrastructure by sharing a single, centralized server among several remote offices to facilitate data and application sharing.
